The Hunt for the Risen Jesus

Share breakfast and a morning of fun and adventure as children journey with their families on an inside Easter egg hunt for the Risen Jesus. Reservations are required and childcare is available for infants. For more information, please contact Reesee Michalochick, 757-428-7727.

This is NOT your momma’s Easter egg hunt where you let all the kids go at one time to battle it out and see who can collect the most eggs filled with candy.

In this hunt, families will collect ONE egg from 11 different rooms and then meet with a storyteller. A provided church map and “check-off list” allows you to collect eggs in any order so there will be no waiting, no lines. With a storyteller at a table of 6-8 folks, the kids will open their eggs to reveal small items that help tell the Easter story in a child-friendly format. They will also receive a storybook to go along with their eggs.

Children will carry the eggs in a pastel bag that they will decorate with stickers at breakfast OR at two other locations (again, no waiting, no lines). This allows families to “hunt” first and eat later.

There is also a hot breakfast of pancakes, sausage, eggs and Hot Cross buns. Breakfast will be served continuously from 9:00 until 11:00 so you may eat at your leisure.

There will be an egg decorating room (plastic eggs, stickers, markers – NO DYES or stained clothes). Each child will also be able to fill those eggs with candy to give to a friend or to give to our friends at the Potter’s House.

There will be also be a special time in the Chapel for a brief prayer, to share any prayer requests and to receive a wooden cross.

And lastly, we invite all children (and families) to the sanctuary, as they “search for the Risen Jesus”. They will be met by a disciple of Jesus who will tell them how much Jesus loves them and then direct them to find ONE large shiny pretty egg (that WILL be filled with candy).

The purpose is to have an Easter Egg Hunt with a purpose – to help educate kids about the Easter story in a FUN WAY.
