Community Pancake Brunch

The Virginia Beach United Methodist Church's Community Pancake Brunch is held on the second Saturday of each month.  Brunch is served in the church social hall located on the first floor of the north wing from 9:30 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.  Parking is free in the church parking lots.
The Community Brunch began in March 2006.  It was initially organized and hosted by the United Methodist Men and the Circle of Friends.  The ministry is now a part of the church's Commission on Missions. Initial donations from the congregation were so generous that neither pancake mix nor syrup was needed until September, 2007.  Brunch attendance averaged approximately 60 people each month until August, 2007.  In August, 2007 the Homes for Children families were invited and the attendance grew to around 160 adults and youth.  Currently we are serving about 110 people per month.  Lynne Hendrick and Dottie Hampton are co-chairpersons for the brunch.
The Community Pancake Brunch is open without cost to all church and community members.  The "all you can eat" brunch consists of pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee.  The following services are offered each month:  breakfast, devotion time, communion, day old baked goods, clothing, and individual prayer if requested.
Tangible donations should be marked "Community Brunch" and may be placed in the Potter's House grocery carts in Room N102, or the hospitality desk in the Welcome Center.  Monetary donations may be made payable to VBUMC with the memo "Community Pancake Brunch".
The following donations are always needed:

  • large bottles of juice
  • canned orange juice (not refrigerated)
  • pancake syrup
  • pancake mix (water based only)
  • backpacks
  • clean men's and women's casual clothing including coats (donations should be left in Room N102).
