Confirmation is a period of Christian formation where young persons have an opportunity to consciously embrace the Christian faith as their own and to accept the responsibilities of Christian discipleship.  It is closely linked to all that has taken place in the life of the young person, God's prevenient grace, the sacrament of baptism, the Christian nurture provided by parents and the faith community and the ongoing activity of the Holy Spirit.
 
Confirmation at VBUMC is open to any youth grade 8 or above.  The Confirmation experience at VBUMC is a combination of group experiences with peers, time spent weekly with a mentor (an adult friend in the faith), special trips, service projects and a Confirmation retreat.  Confirmation orientation is held in January.  Classes and events occur January through May.  The Confirmation worship service is held in May.
