Your financial gifts to the Operating Budget are essential to keep Virginia Beach United Methodist Church in ministry every day of the year. In addition to supporting our direct ministries, our Operating Budget extends our ministry throughout Virginia Beach, the state, the nation, and the world through our United Methodist connections.
As Christian stewards we acknowledge that everything we have comes from God and that these gifts are not ours but ours to share. The Bible teaches us to give the "first fruits" of our harvest to the Lord and this spiritual discipline helps us to keep God first in our lives. The customary "first fruits" are a "tithe" or one tenth of the harvest. If you are unable to tithe, you are encouraged to commit a percentage portion of your income to the Lord. If you are an occasional giver, you may consider committing to give a set amount each week or month.
Through additional giving, members respond to God's call to give and serve beyond their annual pledge. It is a testimony to our willingness to respond whenever the Spirit moves us. If you feel so blessed, you may contribute to the specific ministries you desire. You may also make contributions to the church's Charitable Trust Fund (VBUMC Foundation), described below.
