Stewardship Related Scriptures

Did you know that Jesus spoke more about stewardship (giving of time, gifts, and service) than He did about heaven?!  The following is not intended to be a complete list of Scriptures that apply, but rather a sampling of Scripture that instructs God's people in the way of stewardship:

Deuteronomy 16:17
"Each of you must bring a gift in proportion to the way the Lord your God has blessed you."

I Chronicles 29:11

Malachi 3:10
"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.  Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it."

Matthew 6:21
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Matthew 6:24
"No one can serve two masters.  either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.  You cannot serve both God and money."

Matthew 6:31-33
"So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink' or 'What shall we wear?'  For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

Luke 14:33
"In the same way, any of you who does not give up  everything he has cannot be my disciple.""

Luke 16:11

II Corinthians 9:10-11
"Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.  You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God."

I Timothy 6:17-19
"Command those who are rich in this present world not be be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.  Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.  In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life."

I John 2:17
"The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever."
