Cub Scouts
Cub Scouting is for boys in 1st through 5th grade. Since its beginning, the Cub Scout program has been a fun and educational experience concerned with values. Besides providing a positive place where boys can enjoy safe, wholesome activities, Cub Scouting focuses on building character, improving physical fitness, teaching practical skills, and developing a spirit of community service.

The Cub Scout pack belongs to a church, a school, or some other group of people in your community or neighborhood. This group makes sure your pack has good adult leaders, a place to meet, and exciting things to do. The group gets help from the Boy Scouts of America, which is part of Scouting around the world.

All the activities leaders plan and boys enjoy relate to one or more of the purposes of Cub Scouting, using the seven specific methods to achieve Scouting's aims.  As a worldwide brotherhood, Scouting is a movement dedicated to bringing out the best in people. All Scouting activities benefit the growth and development of boys.  Each time a Scout completes an accomplishment or learns a new skill he will be rewarded. Sometimes the reward is a bead or a patch. Some times it is a smile on his family's faces to see him grow and learn.

Family involvement is essential to Cub Scouting's success. When we talk about "family" in Cub Scouting, we're sensitive to the realities of present-day families. Many Cub Scouts do not come from traditional two-parent homes. Some boys live with a single parent or with other relatives or guardians. Cub Scouting considers a boy's family to be the people with whom he lives.

There are two Cub Scout packs that meet at Virginia Beach United Methodist Church.  One meets at on Sunday nights at 5:00 PM and the other meets on Mondays at 6:30 PM.  Please contact Mr. Kim Whitley  or Mr. Cappy Hoey for more information.
