Stephen Ministries

"Love one another...as I have loved you."
John 15:12

Stephen Ministry offers a one-to-one caring ministry by trained, lay members of our congregation.  It is an extension, not a replacement, of pastoral care for those experiencing difficult life circumstances both in our congregation and in our community.

Each of us has times when we experience a life changing event such as the death of a loved one, terminal illness, or caring for an aging parent.  In these situations we need someone to listen to us, to care for us, a Stephen Minister!  Family and close friends are often too emotionally involved to meet this need, while Stephen Ministers are trained to help hurting people sort out options.

Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry; those receiving care can be sure their identity and what goes on in the caring relationship will remain private.

If you or someone you care about is hurting, struggling, discouraged, stressed, confused, or broken, please contact Becky Herron (757-427-3205) and ask about the Stephen Ministry program.
